The Sándor Márai Memorial Year, announced by the Buda Castle Municipality, commemorated the 125th anniversary of the famous Hungarian writer’s birth.

The color palette and typographic system was based on the visual identity of MáraiKult, which I had designed a few years earlier. MáraiKult is one of the most important cultural institutions in Budapest’s Castle District, housed in the building that was once home to the Philadelphia Café, a favorite gathering place of Sándor Márai.

Throughout the commemorative year, numerous cultural events were organized, including exhibitions, literary evenings, and heritage walks. The highlight of the program was the opening of a permanent exhibition presenting the writer’s intellectual legacy and his years in the Krisztinaváros neighborhood. I also had the opportunity to design the exhibition’s graphic identity.
